Our Services

Battery replacement and controls

An immediate intervention service is available if a battery replacement is required at any BANNATYNE store or after-sales service.

The life of a battery ranges from 2 to 6 years per movement. Most quartz watches with a center second hand have an end-of-life (EOL) indicator.

To indicate that the battery is running low, the second hand starts jumping every four seconds; this happens approximately two weeks before the battery needs to be replaced.

Please note that only authorized distributors of the brands or our after-sales service are authorized to change the battery.

Partial repair

Isolated elements of the machine or the case that do not affect the functioning of the watch (change of crystal, crown, pushers...) are replaced, corrected and/or adjusted. An adjustment of the movement can also be carried out.

Whenever the case is opened, the water-resistance is checked.

The time required for these interventions varies depending on the availability of spare parts.

Complete Review

The complete overhaul includes up to 20 actions on the watch. The main stages of a complete maintenance service are:

Initial test to define the condition of the watch.

Restoration of the case and metal bracelet to original specifications (polishing, satin finish, etc.).

Restoration of the water-resistance with the above-mentioned components.

Disassembly and washing of the movement in individual parts. Repair or replacement of any defective movement parts.

Complete assembly of the mechanical watch and precision tuning according to the brand's standards.

Checking for 24 hours that the precision and cadence are stable.

Polishing

We completely disassemble the watch and in a totally manual process we recover its original finish.

This is a very complex process in terms of different angles, shapes, polishing, shading and, in short, different finishes. Materials such as gold, steel, platinum, etc. are suitable for polishing and leaving them with their original appearance.

Battery replacement and controls

The water-resistance of a watch protects the movement from dust, humidity and deterioration when it is completely submerged in water.

The gaskets allow the watch to retain its water-resistance. However, as they are constantly exposed to many types of external aggressions (cosmetics, perspiration, temperature changes), the water-resistance of a watch may decrease over time. We therefore recommend that you check the water-resistance of your watch every 12 months.

Also make sure that the crown of your watch is correctly positioned (pushed in or screwed down, depending on the model) to prevent water from entering the mechanism.

Important: do not adjust the position of the crown or press on the pushers to change the time, date or any other function while the watch is submerged in water, as water will enter the case.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a watch guaranteed for?
A watch is guaranteed against all possible manufacturing defects for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase, subject to the conditions outlined in the user manual. To avail of this warranty, you will be asked to present the fully completed international warranty certificate, with the date, seal, and signature of an authorized distributor. Please keep this certificate in a safe place.Repair Warranty - From the date of repair, all interventions carried out on your watch have a 12-month warranty that is only valid at BANNATYNE. This warranty covers only the cost of labor and replacement parts used in the repair. The repair warranty is separate from the international warranty provided at the time of purchase. The repair warranty does not cover issues resulting from accidental or deliberate damage, negligence (such as impacts, breakages, moisture in non-water-resistant watch cases, etc.), and alterations due to repairs performed by personnel not affiliated with BANNATYNE.
Why does the watch require regular maintenance?
The mechanism of a watch operates continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a result, both the components of the movement and the lubricating oil suffer from use and the passage of time. Furthermore, the seals of each part (case back, crystal, crown) can deteriorate and cease to guarantee the watch's water and air resistance. A watch needs to undergo regular maintenance to ensure its proper functioning and preserve both its accuracy and water resistance.
  • The battery needs to be replaced every 2 to 6 years, depending on the model.
  • The watch should be taken for maintenance service every 3 to 4 years.
  • A full-service adjustment is needed every 5 years.
Where can I take my watch for inspection or repair?
We recommend that you take it to any BANNATYNE jewelry store or contact BANNATYNE's after-sales service through the form. Remember to bring the warranty card if the watch is still covered by it.
When do I need to change the battery in my quartz watch?
The lifespan of a battery varies between 2 and 6 years depending on the models. Most quartz watches with a central second hand have a low battery indicator (EOL). To indicate that the battery is running low, the second hand will start jumping every four seconds. This happens approximately two weeks before the battery needs to be replaced.
Why is my mechanical watch less accurate than a quartz watch?
Quartz watches are highly accurate due to their high-frequency vibration (32 kHz). Their accuracy is approximately 1 to 2 minutes (ahead or behind) per year.In comparison, a mechanical watch (whether manual or automatic) has a frequency that can vary between 2.5 and 4 Hz, which can lead to an accuracy of approximately 1 or 2 minutes per week. The operation of the watch can be affected by environmental factors such as temperature, pressure, humidity, or magnetic fields.
Is my watch waterproof?
The waterproofness of a watch protects the movement from dust, moisture, and deterioration when fully submerged in water.Seals and gaskets enable the watch to maintain its waterproofness. However, since they are constantly exposed to various external factors (cosmetics, sweat, temperature changes), the waterproofness of a watch may decrease over time. Therefore, we recommend that you have your watch's waterproofness checked every 12 months. If you notice any condensation under the crystal of your waterproof watch, we recommend that you promptly take it to a BANANTYNE store or service center. The appearance of condensation can be a sign of water infiltration.
